Important — please read before proceeding
Auto locksmith work involves inherent risks to vehicle electronics, interior trim, and key components. By instructing any work to proceed you confirm you have read and accepted all terms on this page. If you have any questions before work commences, please ask your technician.
1. Cosmetic Damage to Vehicle Interiors
Certain procedures carried out by Auto Locks 24/7 — including but not limited to the removal of instrument clusters, dashboard panels, air vents, and interior trim — may result in minor cosmetic damage to the vehicle interior.
The customer acknowledges and accepts that any such minor cosmetic damage is an inherent risk of choosing an alternative, non-dealership method of key generation or vehicle access. By instructing work to proceed, the customer accepts this risk in full.
Our technicians take every reasonable precaution and exercise care when handling all jobs. However, vehicle plastics, clips, and interior components may have pre-existing wear, fatigue, or hidden weakness. Components that have been previously disturbed, repaired, or subjected to age-related degradation may break, crack, or become damaged when moved or flexed during the recovery or removal process. Auto Locks 24/7 cannot be held liable for damage arising from pre-existing conditions.
2. Key Fob and Key Shell Damage
Some vehicle manufacturers design key fobs and key shells that are not intended to be opened or disassembled. Where it is necessary to open such a key as part of the service, the resulting key will not retain its original factory appearance.
This may include, but is not limited to: scratches, cut marks, visible openings, altered casing, or permanent changes to the key shell. In some cases — particularly where a key is used as a consumable component in the key generation process — the original key may be destroyed or rendered non-functional as part of the procedure.
The customer accepts that this is a known and unavoidable consequence of the chosen service method and that Auto Locks 24/7 cannot be held responsible for the resulting condition of the key fob or shell.
3. Timescales and Pricing
No work is guaranteed to be completed on the same day. Timescales vary depending on the nature of the job, the vehicle, the availability of parts or specialist equipment, and current workload.
Pricing is not fixed and will differ between jobs. All vehicles and procedures carry different levels of complexity, and as such a firm price will be provided to the customer ahead of any work commencing. Full transparency will be given regarding both timescales and costs before the customer is asked to commit.
Auto Locks 24/7 reserves the right to revise a quoted price if unforeseen complications arise during the job. The customer will be informed immediately and given the option to proceed or decline before any additional work is carried out.
4. High-Risk Procedures and Vehicle Immobilisation
Certain procedures carry an elevated risk of unintended consequences. In some cases, particularly those involving advanced electronic systems, security modules, or immobiliser reprogramming, there is a possibility that the procedure may result in the vehicle becoming immobilised.
Where this occurs, recovery action, further specialist intervention, or dealership involvement may be the only viable solution to restore the vehicle to a driveable state. Any costs associated with recovery, towing, or dealership work in such circumstances are the responsibility of the customer.
Auto Locks 24/7 will always advise the customer of any elevated risk before commencing a high-risk procedure. The customer must provide informed consent before work proceeds.
5. Vehicle Electronics — Inherent Risk
Modern vehicle electronics are highly complex systems. Any interaction with a vehicle's electronic control units, immobiliser systems, key programming modules, or related components carries an inherent risk of unintended outcomes, regardless of the skill and care exercised by the technician.
The customer must read and fully understand all of these terms before choosing to use an auto locksmith service. By proceeding, the customer acknowledges that they are aware of the risks associated with vehicle electronic work and accepts those risks.
Auto Locks 24/7 carries out all work to the best of its ability using professional-grade equipment and up-to-date procedures. However, we cannot guarantee outcomes in all circumstances and cannot be held liable for consequential losses arising from unforeseen electronic complications.
6. Dealer Key Orders — No Refund Policy
Where a payment has been made to purchase a key directly from a franchised dealership on the customer's behalf, no refund can be issued under any circumstances. Each dealer key is manufactured to the vehicle's unique VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) and is therefore specific to that vehicle. Once an order has been placed with the dealership, it cannot be cancelled, returned, or refunded.
If the customer subsequently locates their original key after a dealer key order has been placed, a refund will not be issued. The dealer key order is a commitment and cannot be reversed once submitted.
Auto Locks 24/7 strongly advises all customers to conduct a thorough search for their existing keys before committing to a dealer key order. Please look carefully — in coat pockets, bags, drawers, and any other locations — before proceeding with this service. Once the order is placed, the cost is non-recoverable.
7. Emergency Call-Out Deposit
Where a customer books an emergency call-out outside of normal working hours, a non-refundable deposit of £50 will be taken at the time of booking to secure the technician and confirm attendance at the customer's location.
This deposit is non-refundable under all circumstances and will be deducted from the total cost of the job upon completion. It is taken to cover the technician's time and travel in attending the call-out.
If the customer cancels the call-out after the deposit has been taken, the £50 deposit will be forfeited. Normal working hours are defined at the discretion of Auto Locks 24/7 and will be communicated to the customer at the time of booking.
8. Customer Responsibility
The customer is responsible for ensuring they are the registered keeper or owner of the vehicle, or that they have the legal authority to instruct work on the vehicle. Auto Locks 24/7 reserves the right to request proof of ownership or authority before commencing any work.
The customer is responsible for ensuring the vehicle is in a safe and accessible location for the technician to work. Any delays or additional costs arising from an inaccessible or unsafe location may be charged to the customer.
By instructing Auto Locks 24/7 to carry out any service, the customer confirms they have read and accepted these terms and conditions in full.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Auto Locks 24/7's liability in connection with any service shall be limited to the price paid for that service. We shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or special losses, including but not limited to loss of use of the vehicle, loss of earnings, or costs of alternative transport.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
10. Governing Law
These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of Scotland. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
